On being sick

I hate it.

Particularly when its the truly annoying type of sick which won't go away. I can handle a 24 hour bug where I sleep all day. No problem.

This past week has been hell. I developed a constant dry cough. It keeps me awake all night long, even with Robitussin. I've been trying various cough drops/ lozenges /beverages to try and get through this.

Best so far? Yogurt smoothies. Coats the throat, easy to digest (i.e. quick), gives needed vitamins.

I spent the weekend attempting to recover from this cold, so I watched a bunch of movies. I saw Impromptu for the first time. I think this came out in one of my no-time-for-movies-periods in high school. Quite a collection of theatre stars: Bernadette Peters, Mandy Patinkin, Emma Thompson... plus several film regulars: Judy Davis, Hugh Grant. All portraying the start of George Sand's relationship with Frederic Chopin. I was never much of a George Sand afficionado, but, this movie actually made me curious enough to start looking at a couple of her novels.
